Inle Lake is a major travelers site in myanmar. The lake is bordered by a few villages, where local Intha people live in wood or bamboo houses on stilts. Most of the villagers are farmers or fishermen. Travelers be able to experience the most great views at Inle Lake, eat the most delicious food with fresh fish from the lake and meet local fishermen who are renowned practicing a distinctive rowing style.
Inle Lake is located in the Taunggyi district of Shan State. The best time to travel is during September and October. The Hpaung Daw U festival is followed by the Thadingyut festival of lights. Such as almost every festival in burma, the citizen turn out in their best clothes and in fantastic numbers.
Transport to Inle Lake
Inle Lake is 660km from Yangon and 330km from Mandalay by road. The fastest way to get there is by taxi (75 US dollar) from Bagan or Mandalay during eight hours.
Air: Air Bagan flies to Heho, 41km northwest of Inle Lake (Air Bagan).
Bus: Buses carry travelers every day to Inle Lake from Yangon, Mandalay and closeby Taunggyi (Swenyaung junction).
